A mold is created around the master pattern, and liquid resin is poured into the mold. Once the resin cures, the mold is removed, and the prototype is ready. Vacuum casting is beneficial when a small batch of prototypes is needed, and it allows for the use of a wide range of materials and surface finishes.

  5. Rapid Injection Molding: Rapid injection molding involves the creation of injection-molded prototypes using low-cost tooling and a simplified molding process. This technique is suitable when a larger quantity of prototypes is required to test functionality, aesthetics, or market demand. Rapid injection molding offers a faster turnaround compared to traditional injection molding and allows for the evaluation of part performance and manufacturability.

  6. Rapid Tooling: Rapid tooling refers to the rapid production of molds or tooling for manufacturing processes. It allows for the creation of production-quality parts in a shorter timeframe. Techniques such as direct metal laser sintering (DMLS), soft tooling, and aluminum tooling are used to quickly produce molds and tooling for processes like injection molding, die casting, and thermoforming.

  7. Stereolithography (SLA) and Digital Light Processing (DLP): Stereolithography and Digital Light Processing are specific 3D printing technologies that use photopolymer resin cured by UV light. These techniques offer high-resolution printing and are particularly suitable for producing prototypes with smooth surface finishes, intricate details, and transparent or translucent parts.
